Regulation and documentation for a civil wedding:
Requested Documents for foreigners:
- Original valid passport and copy of passport of bride and groom
- Name, passport numbers, address and profession of living parents
- Birth certificate of bride and groom *
- Tourist card (available at arrival airport)
- Certification that it says that you are currently not married*
- Divorce certificate, Death certificate
- 2 witnesses with passport copies, address and profession. No family members of bride or groom

*NOTE: the birth certificate and the certificate, which says that you are single has to be translated and has to be legalized through the Dominican consulate in Santo Domingo or in your origin country. In the event of a prior divorce or death of spouse, certified copy of certificate must be translated and legalized too. A copy of all paperwork has to be sending to us 1 month prior wedding and the origin has to be at the magistrate latest 3 days prior the wedding.
Civil ceremonies can be carried out at the town hall with an additional fee.
As soon you know when your "dream" wedding day is, it is the best to contact the city hall you wish to be wed to confirm that the date is available.
Legal papers for catholic ceremony:
- Passport
- birth certificate
- baptism certificate
- confirmation certificate
- letter of freedom (saying you are not currently married by Catholic Church)
- proof of pre-nuptial certificate course
- If you have impediment, the certificate of dispensation form impediment
- If you are divorced - the divorce certificate and if you have a civil marriage - the marriage certificate
- Passport of the 2 witnesses
